Our trip to the park

The sun was so lovely this week we went to the park to have some physical development and enjoyed having our snacktime while we were there.  The children did really well using their PECS files in a new environment.

Welcome to Early Years

Welcome to Early Years

Our 'Early Years' is the provision for the nursery and reception aged children in school, we have two classrooms and a large outdoor area.  We endeavour to make the Early Years environment a safe, secure and stimulating setting that will support your child's needs and progress.  We consider a consistent approach through routines and the use of specific approaches are fundamental for the learning of our pupils.

Food Topic

This half term we are looking at food, so far we have read 'The Gingerbread man' and 'The very hungry caterpillar'.

Here are a selection of photographs to show some of the fun activities we have been doing.

Spring 1 half term newsletters

The Three Little Pigs

Little pig, little pig, please let me in ...

... not by the hair on my chinny chin chin!

Then i'll huff and i'll puff and i'll blow your house down!

Jack and the Beanstalk

The children loved Jack and the Beanstalk - we had great fun being giants shouting Fi-Fi-Fo-Fum.

We visited the big castles searching for the giant and planted our own beans...

... And look our beans have grown.

Happy New Year

Welcome back - Happy New year to you all from Early Years

This half term we are doing the topic Fairy-Tales (this is a change to the topic on the long term plan)

Having fun putting up the Christmas tree

We had great fun putting up the Christmas tree in the classroom this week - we are begining to feel very festive.

New Garden Area

We have just opened our new garden area - the children are loving exploring in the bushes.  This week they have been jungle rangers searching for the hidden animals.

Autumn 2 term - Animals

We are having lots of fun looking and learning about different animals.  We had a great visit to the farm when learning about farm animals and we have made our own jungle in the classroom to display the lovely jungle animals we have made.

Autumn 1 topic - Nursery Rhymes

We are having great fun exploring lots of new nursery rhymes and songs in Early Years.

Development of Our Outdoor Area

We are very excited by the development of our outdoor area in Early Years.  We are in the process of adding new resources and areas to the outdoor setting which will enable the children to access their learning for longer periods of time outdoors.  The fresh air, space and exciting opportunities will allow the children to develop and grow with the additional benefits of their physical and emotional wellbeing.  We will keep you up to date in our weekly newsletters.

Here is the initial plan for the area:-
