We are celebrating receiving the Gold award for the Great Active Sunderland Schools Charter.
The Great Active Sunderland School Charter has been developed to be a celebration of school’s which are improving the health and well-being of pupils, creating sport and physical activity opportunities and being a great community school.
One of our school principles is ‘Well-being is core of all we do’ and the Great Active Sunderland School Charter is a great opportunity to promote this principle.
The work towards the award was led by Marisol Bowman, the PE Co-ordinator who said: ‘This is giving our children the experience to compete with other children from different school at the same levels and with the same needs’ and supported by Lorraine Skeen, Teaching Curriculum Support for Physical Well-being who added: ‘We are also so very proud of our pupil Axel, who last year represented our school in a Boccia competition."
Lesley Mavin, the head teacher, is very proud of the school moving from Bronze to Gold award in such a short period of time.
We are also commitment to keep encouraging the pupils to take part in inter school festivals like Judo and Tennis, so watch this space for up and coming news.
