Autumn 2

Week 1

This term our topic is ‘ Celebrations of Colour ‘

We will be learning about the different celebrations that we celebrate this term including Halloween, Bonfire Night, Birthdays, Remembrance Day , Children in Need , St Andrews Day and Christmas.

This week we have been learning about Bonfire Night and we made posters about staying safe.

We enjoyed visiting the bonfire and made our marshmallows.

We experimented with coke and denture tablets to make a whoosh like a firework ! It did not whoosh very well ! We also watched skittles go a mixture of lovely colours just like a Catherine wheel .

We made a fire engine using different shapes to create it.

Some of us made mark making in the sand to create firework patterns.

Happy Bonfire Night everyone.


Week 2

This week we had a birthday celebration and the children enjoyed a birthday party.

We made Rainbow toast using our fine motor skills to make a pattern. We celebrated Remembrance Day and made Poppy pictures using a bottle and red paint to create a poppy .

In nurture group we looked at ourselves in the mirror and made happy and sad faces . We passed the beanbag to our friends. We played a circle time game were we held hands with our friends. 

 We created a poppy field picture cutting paper to create our poppies.

Some of us have been learning about patterns and looked at the story of Diwali.

We made colourful Diwali lamps.

Week 3

We celebrated Children in Need this week.

This week we have made toast using our knifes to spread and adult’s helped us to put into the toaster. 

Some of us continued to learn about patterns and finding matching pairs of colourful socks and wellies.

We are working hard in following instructions and gross motor skills by doing Mat man and Tapping sticks .

We also love dancing to Shake your sillies out and Jump up jump down.

We enjoyed time on the Discovery Park with our friends.

In nurture group we made handprint hearts to celebrate Anti Bully week and to make sure we are kind to our friends.

We made a colourful Anti Bully week sock using of scissor skills to create.

Week 4

This week we are celebrating birthdays, as we had two birthdays in class

We started our winter display and got very creative.

We practiced our knife spreading skills , making jam and toast.

We got excited as we had a new IWB installed and the children loved the way we could draw on it .

Some of the children enjoyed sensory paint making a colourful elephant

We used our scissor skills to cut out a birthday cake and add the number of candles to how old we are .

Week 5

This week we enjoyed Polar Express Day , we came in our PJ’s and did some activity about riding the train. We watched some of the film .

We made snowmen in cookery using our fine motor skills to cut out circles and mixing icing sugar to melt over the snowman .

We put up our Christmas tree- hopefully it will stay up !

Week 6

We have been busy with our Christmas activities. We have been using our finger tips to make Christmas tree with pom poms .

We made star decorations and Christmas trees

We enjoyed putting the colourful baubles on the IWB Christmas tree , we also liked the snowman game , it was fun to create !
