Little Steps, Big Aspirations For All

Cobalt Class - Spring 2

This half term our topic is "Our Big World"

We grabbed our passports and travelled the globe to learn and explore the language, culture, food and arts of five different countries! At the beginning of the week, the children would find out where we were travelling to by solving clues from Faye's "Mystery Box". The children would then answer our daily register by saying good morning/good afternoon in the language for that country, accompanied by the correct Makaton sign - super impressive!

We then looked at different artists who originated from our weekly country. We looked at Antoni Gaudi's mosiac technique, Leonardo De Vinci's portraits and even created our own Indian Rangoli patterns. To replicate their art, we used  a range of different media including clay, water colours, paints, calving tools and cotton wool etc.

At the end of the week, we put our new knowledge to the test and took part in Faye's "Hot-Seat Challenge" where children had to answer 3 fire questions about our country to receive a dojo point! Cobalt class then used their ICT lessons to create fact-files using publisher to teach other people facts about their weekly countries!

Take a look at some of the things we did!
