Columbia Grange School

Little Steps, Big Aspirations For All

Spring 1

This term we are focussing on animals. We will be listening to and exploring a range of stories involving animals. We will visit Bill Quay Farm, Saltwell Park and Jesmond Dene. We will investigate where they live, including temperatures and materials. We will continue to develop our communication by requesting items that are motivating to us. We will take part in cookery sessions and explore new insutruments in music as well as continue to develop our number and shape knowledge. We are looking forward to having lots of fun

Polar Bear Polar Bear and Brown Bear Brown Bear

We have enjoyed listening to the stories 'Polar Bear, Polar Bear' and 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear'. We loved investigating the different sounds the animals make and used our senses to explore  items relating to winter. We have been using PECS to communicate our choices  when selecting resources we want to investigate. We counted balls rolling down guttering and went fishing for numbers. Some of us have loved playing dice games and have been able to find one more than a given number. We enjoyed a trip to Bill Quay farm to visit the animals and have enjoyed hunting for the animals from our story hidden around school. We loved our first judo session with Kev and had great fun making cakes in cookery. It's been a great start to the term.
