Week beginning 31st Oct
This week we have been reading ‘Room on the Broom‘
We have talked about the characters in the story and sequenced the story on a broomstick.
We created pictures of a witch on the broomstick using 2D shapes. In cookery we made pumpkin biscuits.
We have talked about being safe for Bonfire night and we all enjoyed our first lesson at the swimming baths.
Week beginning 7th November
We have celebrated Remembrance Sunday by thinking about the soldiers in the different Wars around the World.
We listened to the Last Post and made silhouette paintings of the soldiers at war .
In number, we looked at silver and bronze coins, and some of us matched the coins.
We made Poppy biscuits in cookery form biscuits and putting red icing sugar on. They tasted delicious!
Week beginning 14th November
We have celebrated Anti Bullying Week and Children Needs Day .
We wore odd socks.
Some children sorted out some odd socks and matched them together . We also designed our own odd socks.
We talk about how our friends can be unkind to us and making us do things we don’t want to.
We made Children in Need cookies and decorated them.
We watched a friend who attended Columbia Grange many years ago, Alex who was on the Children in Need Rickstraw . He had to ride his bike with the help of Matt Baker.
Week beginning 21st November
We have listened to the story of Rama and Sita and celebrating Diwali
We have made a Diwali celebration candle with various coloured paper
We created a Diwali light holder from clay and decorated it.
Week beginning 28th November
We have enjoyed talking about St Andrew and Scotland
We made a map of Scotland and pick out objects that belong to Scotland
We made some fish shaped sponge cakes , cutting around a fish.
We looked at different coins and exchanged pennies for our breakfast on a morning .
In PHSE, we have thought about and looked at photographs of people showing different faces such as happy /sad / excited etc . We sang some songs about different faces that we make.
During December we made lots of Christmas crafts such as a card , calendar and a Christingle from an orange.
In cookery we made reindeer cakes .
