SUMMER 2
This half term our topic is
Superheroes!
Please take a look at our Medium Term Plans. There is an 'At home' section filled with ideas you and you child could enjoy together. We would love to hear and see photographs all about your adventures at home and in the community. Please keep us updated through the dojo app.
The children have looked at superheroes and villains such as Supertato, Evil pea, Peppa’s Super Potato, Minions, Spider Man, Batman and The Hulk/Marvel each week. Every week we set up the classroom with these themes, with our various continuous provision activities, and classroom-based learning. The children have enjoyed digging and counting potatoes from soil, and measuring out frozen peas and chickpeas with our scales! We have roleplayed dressing up as superheroes and saved the vegetables from the Evil Pea! We enjoyed superhero themed Sensology and Attention Everyone sessions where we explored our five senses and took turns to join in in the activities. We learned how to make mashed potatoes using our 'super' potatoes, made Batman sandwiches and microwaved marshmallows to make Spiderman's sticky spiderwebs in cookery. The children have done so well with our various cut and stick matching activities, colourful semantic sentence building, counting and ordering in maths, some even 1-20! We have had a strong focus on action words and linked them to our superheroes. We created short sentences such as 'Stomp like Hulk' and 'Climb like Spiderman' in our story sessions and practiced the moves ourselves during our PE sessions and on the climbing equipment outdoors and at the park. We have done lots of work on beginning to follow an adult's agenda and write specific pre-writing shapes in our squiggle and write dance sessions, practicing writing up, down, side to side and round and round. In our art sessions we have made Gotham city pictures where we painted the sky and made our own buildings, made our own minion Pringle cans, finger painted evil peas, and also made our glittery spiderwebs! In our wellbeing sessions, we have practiced washing our faces and hands on rainy days, and applying sun cream on the sunny days!
World Music Day.
For World Music Day Scarlet class randomly chose the 'Classical' genre. We listened to some classical music during our Charanga music session in the morning and then after our busy PE lesson we relaxed and cooled down on the mats with some fabrics. We all lay silent and listened as the classical music played.
