Week 1-Firefighters
This week we started our topic of "People who Help Us". This week we put the fires out in our tuff spot using spray water bottles, we coloured in pictures of fire engines, we explored coloured rice and we did some fire fighter role play. This week in maths we have been looking at big and small and sorting fire related pictures into size order. In cookery we made some biscuits by following instructions. In science this week we looked at the difference between hot and cold objects and coloured them accordingly. In attention everyone we made a glitter fire, played foam splat (it was super messy) and then followed instructions to make a fire engine. This week we also had our first swimming session and then we looked at art work from picasso.
Week 2-Police Officers
This week in our attention everyone sessions we have made police cars and coloured police officers. We used the parachute in P.E and did a sensory dance session. in maths this week we have been focusing on perfecting our addition skills and adding 1 using pictures,props and then numbers. We have all been doing a great job at reading at home. In ICT we used purple mash to use our mouse skills and colour a police car. Next week we are going to be looking at the ambulance service.
Week 3-Ambulance/Paramedic
This week we have been looking at the ambulance service and paramedics. In cookery we made paramedic people. We are getting better at following the instructions and finding the ingredients and equipment that we need. In maths this week we have been making a snack shop and using money we have been buying our snacks. Some children have also been doing really well with their reading at home. In literacy this week we have had lots of different storys about ambulances and hospitals. We have also been practising our writing skills with our card for Mother's Day.
Week 4- Dentist
This week we have been perfecting our moves with cosmic kids yoga and yoga with Paula and Carmela. In cookery this week we made dentist biscuits this was our last week doing this and we have seen lots of improvements with the children finding the ingrediants that they need. In our Attention Everyone sessions we have had a dentist focus and we made our own teeth using collage materials, junk modelling and we even wrote our own name using teeth. We ordered going to the dentist and some children were able to write sentences to support this. We also have been doing more read it.. write it.. say it work with our phase 2 phonics.
Week 5-Easter
This week we have had lots of fun. We have made some lovely Easter cards for our families at home. We made some Easter shredded wheat cakes they were yummy and didn't make it home as we ate them for snack hahah! We went on a Easter egg hunt on the adventure playground and discovery park and found lots of brightly coloured eggs. We had a great time in yoga this week relaxing and doing our yoga poses.
This week it's our last swimming session and we have all done so well in the lane practising moving our hands and kicking our feet.
